Welcome to this episode of Unity Through Diversity.
This week's special guest is Aland Stamp, little background from Aland:
Aland Stamps is a former foster youth who grew up in foster care during the late 70’s and 80’s after his mother, who was a heroin addict, eventually lost her parenting rights as a result of her addiction. After 11 years in foster care and 20 different placements (foster homes, group homes and institutions), Aland aged out of foster care and into homelessness. Within the first two and a half years of aging out, Aland couch-surfed, became a crack addict and alcoholic. He ate out of soup kitchens daily and bounced around from homeless shelter to homeless shelter on the streets of the Cass Corridor in Detroit. He was in a near-fatal car accident, sold drugs to support his own drug habit, was convicted of three felony drug charges and sentenced up to 20 years in prison for probation violations and felony assault. Aland served 7 of that 20-year sentence before being released.
In this episode, we deeply dive into those stories with Aland to connect his current mission with River Jordan INC with the mission of to help others who have lived similar experiences and struggle with making a mental transition out of foster care and lead them to foster care recovery.

Who is PHIL EICH?
Everyone knows that Phil Eich is the founder of Storyville Social, a marketing agency that uses writing, photography, videography, and podcasting to create story-centered marketing for cities.
Phil Eich is one of the creators of "Hey, Bay City!”, a community-led platform for hometown stories, original podcasts, and new job opportunities in Bay County, Michigan. Phil Eich is also the Director of Marketing & Placemaking for Bay Area Chamber of Commerce.
We know he has 3 girls and a lovely wife. We see Phil show up a lot at Bay Area Chamber of Commerce’s meetings with his camera, and if you don’t pay much of attention of where is Phil, I promise you that you won’t find him, unless he made himself visible. And I always wondering why, and you will know why in this episode!
However, what’s more that we don’t know about Phil?
I carried some knowing about Phil but also had many questions for him for this podcast recording. After over an hour interview, my curiosity about Phil finally got cleared on some level, however, at the same time, I got a sense of there are many more chapters in this BOOK OF PHIL EICH and I am waiting for the right time to share more chapters with you.

This is a video about interview with Tamika Vantifflin at Alice and Jack Wirt Library in Bay City, Tamika just self published her first children book" Yarrie's ABCs of Black History", She came to Bay City to share her new book, and I got to connected with her, and had this short interview with her.
Bio of Tamika Vantifflin:
Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Tamika was adopted and raised in rural Michigan along with her 20 brothers and sisters. Growing up, Tamika had a vivid imagination and a passion for learning. Her twin sister inspired her to fall in love with Black History, encouraging her to learn more, which sparked her curiosity as to why Black people weren't represented in history
books. A former beauty queen, Tamika believes representation is essential in schools and it is imperative for positive Black History to be incorporated into the education system. It is Tamika's passion to share Black history and heritage with childrenand to make sure all cultures are reflected in the stories they read. It is her hope that you will enjoy her first book as much asshe does!

Nathan Hanley is a Saginaw(MI) native, university educated actor, community activist, and career coffee industry professional. Passionate about helping others, he is associated with many community organizations and businesses in Saginaw such as: Creation Coffee, Red Eye Coffee, Pit & Balcony Theatre, Lee Commons Historical Restoration Group, and more.

Welcome to this episode of Unity through Diversity, the special guest is: Anthony (Aj) Malenfant. Owner of Major Skate, Born and raised in Bay City Michigan,” I wanted to take my passion of skateboarding, combined with my love of 20 years serving in the Michigan Army National Guard to give a positive experience to the community. Opening up Major Skate has been more than I ever could have asked for. Everyday I'm given the opportunity to teach riders self-confidence, motivation, and accomplishment. When I say Major Skate is here for Lessons, Sessions, and Progression, I really mean it. The vibe of the shop starts with me, and we are more than welcoming, and want to see you challenge yourself and succeed!”
I got to know Aj from the eye opener breakfast event by Bay Area Chamber of Commerce back in November 2022, after his sharing on the Veterans’ Day event that morning, I know I would love to have him to share his story on this podcast, as an active veteran in service for last 20 years , as a entrepreneur, as a community lover!
